Self Confidence vs. Pride
Self confidence this is a necessary power to achieve the
things you want in life. But this ability can be blinding. This ability is
often used for wrong purposes. This ability allows you to be confident in
yourself even if other people don't. Like I said this ability can be blinding
and draw you away from other people and make you only believe in yourself
because you are the only one you can trust. You must have compassion and virtue
to truly be self confident because without compassion and virtue self
confidence would turn into pride.

Take care not to confuse confidence with pride. Self confidence is often human pride. The reality is we are sinners and need forgiveness & guidance from God. Confidence in an omnipotent, loving creator takes humility. I have often let myself down. God has never let me down. The diffrence between a good man and a godly man is that a godly man knows he isn't good. Praying you'll find confidence in Christ; the One who loved you enough to die for your sins & rose again to give you eternal life.
ReplyDeleteConfidence and pride are two different things. But over self confidence can lead to pride. I dont know what you meant at that last part. We are all good people thats why we have Heaveanly Father to guide us. We need confidence in ourself and God to trust that God knows what's right. But we have to have confidence in ourself to do what God askes us. God loves me and I love myself. But I agree we all need to be humble. But what would this world be like without self confidence?

Rocketman - I love how this post tells of the importance of having self confidence, while at the same time warning of how OVER-CONFIDENCE IN SELF can lead to pride. I also love how you point out that one must have compassion and virtu to be truly self confident. I suppose these characteristics may be what separate self confidence from pride; a prideful person will not be compassionate or virtuous...

Teri - I'm glad you commented here... Pride and humility used to confuse me. I once thought that one had to put themselves down and other up to have humility. But I learned that such an act is infact a less recognizeable form of pride. A humble person can be confident, while at the same time knowing that others have much to teach him, so he is open to listening to others and learning. I believe Christ hopes for us to believe in ourselves and in others. I believe He desires us to have the self confidence of knowing that with His help, we can do wonderful things... I think rocketman's self confidence coupled with humility shows that He must have great confidence in Christ. I think his confidence in Christ is his source of self confidence.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Corine comepletely. :) I also agree with Tari that we must be humble and thank you for your advice.
You may want to consider Jesus' words on the matter of "goodness" He said, "No one is good but One, that is God." Also Romans 3: 10- 12, 23 and Psalm 53: 3. The total depravity of man (sinful human nature) is a core doctrine in Biblical Theology. I hope that helps you understand my last comment.

We do sin but that is why we have faith in our Eternal Father and in the atonement through His son Jesus Christ and follow on the right path to become better. You me and everyone has things they need to overcome. If we are all truly evil and cannot change what is the point of this life? Is the point to coming here to acknowledge that we are evil? I believe in a greater purpose. I wont look at myself as useless. I will help other people while being humble faithful and self confident. Thank you for writing, sincerely Rocket Man :)
